About DNSRECON.io
DNSRECON.io is maintained by RainCity Techworks, an engineer-led managed IT and security firm headquartered between Seattle and Tacoma. We build tools we need for client work: dense layouts, API parity, and sober copy that respects working professionals.
Why we built it
DNS troubleshooting eats time during migrations, email cutovers, and incident response. We were frustrated by fluffy dashboards that hid the raw data. DNSRECON.io is our answer: a sharp-edged console with topology, geo, propagation, speed, reverse, and mail-auth tooling living together.
Every page sticks to monospace fonts for technical data, subtle neon accents to call attention to active states, and zero rounded corners so screenshots look professional in change tickets.
How we operate
- Node.js + Fastify backend served behind Nginx and PM2.
- Redis caches short-lived lookups; PostgreSQL stores history and anonymized metrics.
- Sigma.js, ECharts, and MapLibre power the visualizations without heavy frameworks.
- Every public feature mirrors an API endpoint to keep automation and UI consistent.
Who uses it
Our audience is sysadmins, MSP engineers, DevOps staff, and domain owners who actually run change windows. DNSRECON.io is often open next to terminal panes, so we prioritize keyboard-friendly components and dense tables.
